Posting Guidelines

So I don't have to write them again, if indeed it is ever needed...

Posting Guidelines:

My basic code for moderating the boards is this: Politeness is a virtue.

Mostly you can interpret it as this: Don't make personal attacks.

If you have a problem with a particular post, do not respond on the board. E-mail either myself or the moderator of the forum. My e-mail is merricb@yahoo.co.uk

This also applies to the use of cursing. If you have a problem with a post, please contact the moderator or me. With regard to "fairness of trading", I think I've made my thoughts known on that: Don't make personal attacks, the best option is to offer a better trade. You could also contact them by e-mail. You can make the observation that perhaps a trade can be better. You cannot flatly state that "James is a rubbish trader" or similar.

With regard to "bad traders", the reference forum has accepted protocols for handling that. Inquire there.

Please don't spam. If I see people repeatedly spamming (posting with no on-topic content) in General Discussion or elsewhere, their post counts will be reset to 0. Actual spam will cause locking of accounts.

Please also note that discussion of figure stats and the skirmish game should properly be in DDM Skirmish. One or two threads discussing spoilers as they are released is fine in General, but the majority of these threads will be moved or locked or both.

If you have any other questions on moderation issues, please e-mail me.

Penalties:

The penalties for improper behaviour may include some of the following:
* Locking of the offending thread
* An official warning e-mail
* A public official warning posted in the forums (normally in General)
* Locking of your account for 24 hours
* Permanent locking of your account

There isn't any hard and fast rule to which penalty will apply, but the severity, number and frequency of the offense(s) do weigh in the decision of which penalty will be used.

Arguing in the public forums with a moderator or administrator is very high on my "Do not do" list. Please e-mail the moderator in question first, and then e-mail me if the matter cannot be resolved amicably. In the case that it is a ruling of my own that you disagree with, then you might get me to change my mind. I have been known to do so. However, in personal e-mail, as with forum posts, I insist that you be polite. An abusive e-mail will not improve your situation.

If your account is permanently locked, you are welcome to return with a new username, assuming you now post in a fashion that is acceptable to the moderators.

Signatures
Please keep your signatures to reasonable lengths. Images are not allowed. Any signature above six lines may be deleted, and any signature of four or more lines should use a smaller font. Do not use a larger font in your signatures. Please see the Guide/FAQ to signature formats"

Wizards Bashing
I've recently seen an upsurge of posts where it has been considered a good idea to "bash" Wizards of the Coast for some of their decisions.I'm giving everyone a warning: this will not be tolerated on Maxminis. Do it in the future, and your account will be permanently locked.

I'm not talking about posts that disagree with decisions made by Wizards. They're fine. However, if you post like this, "As for warforged I honestly can say that WOTC can take all thier warforge minis roll them in a big ball and ... TURN THAT SUMBITCH SIDEWISE AND STICK IT STAIGHT UP THIER CANDY ASS", you can say goodbye to your account. I would like to keep this a place where the members of Wizards R&D feel happy to visit.

Yours sincerely,
